We are Michael and Lone Ramlov, founders of Scandic Limited. Originally from Denmark, we bring a rich tradition of design and timber craftsmanship to every project we undertake.
From Denmark to New Zealand
In 2007, we made the move from Denmark to New Zealand. In 2013, we founded Scandic Limited, a name that pays tribute to our Scandinavian roots and design values - simplicity, functionality, and natural beauty.
Our passion for working with timber and our desire to run a family business is the heart of what we do. Together, we’ve built a company focused on delivering high-quality, custom-made timber joinery for clients across New Zealand.
Meet Michael
I’ve always loved working with timber. From a young age, I knew I wanted to create with my hands and eventually run my own business.
My journey in timber craftsmanship began in Denmark, where I earned my Trade Certificate in Joinery in 1992.
I later pursued advanced studies, graduating as a wood technician (AP degree in Production Technology) - an education that deepened my understanding of timber materials, processes, design and management.
Over the years, I worked across various sectors in Denmark, developing a broad skill set as a builder, cabinetmaker, joiner, and window and door manufacturer.
Since arriving in New Zealand in 2007, I’ve worked in a variety of sectors, including furniture making, the super yacht industry, and kitchen manufacturing.
These experiences have helped shape my approach to craftsmanship. Always with an eye for detail and durability.

What We Do
At Scandic Limited, we specialise in crafting custom timber joinery, screens, feature walls, cabinetry, and architectural joinery. We work closely with architects, builders, designers, and homeowners to bring their visions to life - offering tailored, practical solutions made with care and precision.
Every piece is handmade using quality, sustainably sourced timber, guided by our values of craftsmanship, honesty, and timeless design.
